Tel Aviv [Israel], Februray 3: The Israeli military is accused of flattening 20 buildings in the West Bank city of Jenin in an airstrike on February 2.
Footage from the scene shows a series of large explosions occurring simultaneously at the crowded Jenin refugee camp in the West Bank on February 2 following airstrikes by the Israeli military , according to Reuters.
Israel 's military operation in Jenin has been going on for nearly two weeks, aiming to eliminate Palestinian militants and seize weapons caches.
The Israeli military says 23 buildings have been demolished in the northern West Bank after explosives laboratories, weapons and observation posts were discovered in them.
The Israeli military also shared images of seized weapons, ammunition and gas cylinders. Palestinian media reported that about 20 buildings were destroyed. Jenin Government Hospital Director Wisam Baker said that part of the hospital was destroyed but there were no casualties.
Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas called on the United States to use its influence to end Israel's military campaign and requested an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council to end the aggression against Palestinians.
Jenin, home to crowded refugee camps and frequent military operations, began its assault on the city on January 21, two days after a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas in the Gaza Strip came into effect.
Palestinians say at least 25 Palestinians have been killed since the Jenin operation began, including gunmen, a 73-year-old man and a 2-year-old child. The Israeli military says it has arrested more than 100 wanted men and killed at least 50 gunmen, including 15 in initial air strikes since January 14 and 35 since January 21.
